There is ice on Pluto!

NASA led a new mission called New Horizons that revolutionized our vision and understanding of Pluto. Along with its many discoveries were images of odd formations that are like giant blades of ice. Using a system similar to what meteorologists use to forecast weather and a computer simulation of evaporating ices, scientists have found evidence of the snow and ice on Pluto. The ice and snow consist of frozen methane, but their origin remained an unknown.

The interesting fact is that we had only been seen snow or ice on Earth until now. That is a huge revolution in the sphere. Scientists state that those ice blades are formed by erosion and are known as “penitents.”  They are bowl-shaped ice blocks with blade-like spires around the edge that can rise several hundreds of feet.
